A Calm Prelude offers a contemplative glimpse into an imagined Aotearoa landscape, where memory and feeling shape the scene as much as geography. Emerging organically on the canvas, the composition gently reveals valleys, ridgelines, and water — a place half-remembered, half-dreamed. As a smaller sibling to There’s a Place, this work holds a more intimate stillness, inviting quiet reflection. It evokes the awe and serenity I often feel when travelling through the natural world, where even a moment of stillness can signal the beginning of something expansive.
